Evaluation

A program evaluation describes how well a program is carrying out its intended activities and/or how effective those activities are. In addition to providing required reports to funders, wise program managers use their evaluation results to help keep their program on track and guide their improvement efforts. They also use evaluation data to tell their program’s story to funders, participants, and other stakeholders.

Project LAUNCH grantees participate in three distinct, but interwoven, data collection and assessment efforts.

Grantee-Specific Evaluation

Grantees design and carry out evaluation activities to assess the implementation of their Project LAUNCH projects and to determine the outcomes associated with project activities within their states, tribes, communities, and the District of Columbia.

National Cross-Site Evaluation

The CSE will synthesize evaluation findings across all Project LAUNCH grantees to assess how the initiative is performing overall. Abt Associates Inc., a national evaluation contractor, will conduct this effort.

GPRA and Other Federal Reporting Requirements

Grantees collect and report data related to the GPRA (Government Performance and Results Act) using the Cross-Site Evaluation (CSE) Web portal. In addition, grantees also collect data on prevention/promotion and infrastructure outcomes for SAMHSA’s TRansformation ACcountability (TRAC) performance measures.
