Project Summary : Three school districts in Allamakee County (Allamakee Community, Eastern Allamakee, and Postville Community) and partners (law enforcement agencies, public mental health provider, the district juvenile justice, and other community partners), and the Community Connections Collaborative - serving a diverse rural population - enhance existing resources and integrate activities into a comprehensive network of services to prevent youth violence and promote healthy development of children and families. Key programs and activities include mental health screening and services, outreach to parents through workshops, school and community safety assessments and equipment, a youth facilitator and bilingual coordinator, youth task force, and universal prevention programs in after school programs that are integrated with school programs in some schools (40 Developmental Assets, Olweus Bullying Prevention, Life Skills Training, Success 4, Positive Behavioral Support (Iowa model), Character Counts or Al's Pals, Peers Making Peace, Partnering with Parents, and Project Northland).
