Deborah Perry is a technical assistance specialist for Project LAUNCH. Dr. Perry is an associate professor at the Georgetown University Center for Child and Human Development. She is currently the Project Director for a Head Start-funded Center for Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation (ECMHC) and the co-principal investigator on a statewide evaluation of mental health consultation to child care in Maryland. She is also the evaluation consultant to the DC Department of Mental Health for their ECMHC project. Dr. Perry’s research focuses on community-based participatory approaches to designing and testing preventive interventions for young children and their caregivers. In partnership with Dr. Huynh-Nhu Le at George Washington University, Dr. Perry completed a randomized controlled trial to test the effectiveness of a preventive intervention for post-partum depression in high-risk Latina women. In collaboration with colleagues at Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, Dr. Perry has expanded this work on depression prevention into home visiting programs in Baltimore City. Dr. Perry has a Ph.D. in maternal and child health from Johns Hopkins and a master’s degree in psychology.
