Jennifer Oppenheim, PsyD is a Public Health Advisor in the Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS) at the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).  She is a Federal Project Officer for Project LAUNCH and serves as the Program Coordinator. Dr. Oppenheim has also worked as a Project Officer on the National Child Traumatic Stress Initiative at SAMHSA. Prior to joining the federal government Dr. Oppenheim served as a consultant to multiple child and family initiatives, with an emphasis on child abuse prevention, violence prevention, early childhood systems reform, and children’s mental health. Dr. Oppenheim was a Faculty Research Associate at the University of Maryland, College Park, and director of a school-based mental health and social service program for four years. Prior to that she provided clinical services to children and families in the foster care system; sexual abuse survivors; and pediatric cancer patients. She also worked as a mental health consultant to child care centers and as a play therapist. She is a graduate of Yale University and received her doctorate in clinical psychology at Rutgers University in 1996. She completed her internship at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC.
